  • North Carolina Genealogical Society (www.ncgenealogy.org) - The North Carolina Genealogical Society provides educational programs and publications and encourages the collection, preservation and utilization of manuscripts, documents and other materials of genealogical and historic value.
  • Afro-American Historical & Genealogical Society of North Carolina (www.aahgs.org) - This is a national non-profit organization dedicated to promoting research, study and publication of history and genealogy of Americans, with particular interest in persons of African descent.  There are three chapters in North Carolina: Piedmont Triad, Triangle and Charlotte.
